Psychotherapy for Adolescents

Teenagers are in one of the most difficult stages of life, the change from child to adult.

During this stage they try to find their place in the world, all this is accompanied with physical, emotional and social changes. Most of the time, these changes are associated with family, school and social conflicts and in some situations they cross individual boundaries.

Parents and teachers often feel helpless and unable to help them through this time of change.

Psychotherapy for Adolescents

The different problems in adolescents can be:

  • Risky and aggressive behaviors.
  • Eating disorders.
  • Low self-esteem.
  • School failure.
  • Addictions (alcohol, cell phone, drugs, gambling).
  • Apathy and lack of motivation.
  • Social isolation and lack of communication with family members.
    Bullying.

Through psychotherapy, the adolescent will be helped, safe and prepared to reach adulthood in a satisfactory way in collaboration with the parents and in this way can find their place in the world.

When should an adolescent go to a psychologist?

On many occasions it is the teenager’s parents who come to the consultation concerned about the behavior of their teenager: poor school performance, defiant behavior by not wanting to accept the limits coming from the authority figures either from the family or school, lack of motivation and apathy that makes the teenager has no interest in anything or anyone, introversion and very low self-esteem, feeling insignificant and insecure in a world of adults.

Sometimes, it is the adolescent himself who asks for psychological help, because he knows that something is not right in his inner world.
